Life Coaching for Women Is Not One-size-fits-all

When I first heard about life coaches a few years ago, I rolled my eyes. I imagined someone with no credentials hanging a sign like Lucy in the old Peanuts cartoons, offering sage advice for 5 cents.
The industry is not well regulated, and almost anyone can call herself a life coach.
When I pursued my professional certification, I learned that there is most certainly a tradecraft involved in coaching …and it has very little to do with giving advice.
Coaching is the art of active listening, asking hard questions, and pushing boundaries, all designed to help a client tap into her own wisdom. To say it out loud. To get clear on what she wants, what’s holding her back, and how to move forward.

I chose to focus on coaching women not because the tradecraft is any different-- it isn’t--but because that's where I know I can make the greatest impact.
I named my practice YBeU Life & Leadership Coaching for Women because I have real-world experience leading teams of women operating in environments traditionally dominated by men.
My 30-plus years in counterterrorism taught me about grit, tenacity, and what we might today call “doing it scared.” My teams and I learned to trust our gut, take smart risks, and keep moving forward…even when the path wasn’t clear.
Today, my clients are business and civic leaders, artists, entrepreneurs, and more. They are high achievers, not in need of “fixing.” Some are navigating big transitions, considering promotions, or making difficult decisions. All are committed to becoming even better.
While the principles of coaching apply broadly, my work is intentionally focused on women navigating leadership and life transitions.
That’s also why I offer a complimentary discovery call before we begin working together. Coaching is not one-size-fits-all by design. I want to understand a client’s goals, experience, and expectations to ensure that I can truly add value. If I’m not confident that I can help, I won’t hesitate to say so or to suggest another coach who may be a better fit.
If you’re curious about what a thinking partner could do to help you take your next best step with courage, clarity, and confidence, you can learn more about my Life & Leadership Coaching for Women or schedule your complimentary discovery call.
Ignite your passion. Live your purpose. Make a difference.
